Ministries & Outreach

Calvary Fellowship Community Church is committed to reaching the surrounding community of Ambridge by giving back. Between our internal ministries and our outreach work, we are always seeking to create a safe space for discipleship while serving the practical needs around us.

Ministries

Weekly Bible Study

We hold weekly Bible Study every Monday evening from 6-8 PM. Bible Study is an opportunity for us to dive deeper into the Word of God, ask questions, and learn Biblical interpretation skills to apply in our personal walks with God. This time of fellowship and study is part of our active discipleship approach as we grow in relationship with each other and create space to sharpen each other through and with Scripture.

Young Adults

Calvary’s Young Adults Ministry seeks to create a safe space to study the Bible, ask questions, and experience a supportive community to grow in their faith. Our Young Adults Group meets every Wednesday from 6:30 – 8:15 for dinner and Bible Study. This study time is focused on growing in our understanding of the character of God, accurate interpretation of Scripture, evangelism skills, and finding ways to apply the Word to our daily lives. In addition to Wednesday nights, we have Community Days with fun group activities and fellowship. We also engage with our community through outreach, evangelism, and service opportunities. We’d love to have you join us!

Clothing

Our clothing closet holds items for men, women, and children. If you’re in need of clothing or would like to donate items, please contact ‭(724) 683-1998‬ for support.

Church Army USA

Church Army was founded in England in 1882 by the Rev. Wilson Carlile. Carlile became convinced that the moral and physical conditions of the lowest classes of English people called for new and aggressive action from the Anglican Church. As he studied Scripture and viewed need, he determined that this work was best done by community members of the same class as those in need. Thus, as a curate in the parish of St. Mary Abbott, Kensington, Carlile experimented with nontraditional forms of Christian gatherings and evangelism. He went where coachmen, valets, and others would take their evening stroll and held open air services, persuading onlookers to say the Scripture readings, and training ‘everyday’ people to disciple. Church Army UK continues to do the work that Wilson Carlile started in 1882 – giving God’s love to everyone and hope to millions.

Following its growth in the UK, Church Army USA (CAUSA) was established in the 1900s with the same mission in the American context. CAUSA is a society of trained and commissioned evangelists out of the Anglican Church and across many other denominations. Our aim and purpose is winning people to Christ, providing the Church with trained, discipled, and socially concerned evangelists who equip others to ‘do the work of an evangelist’ and further evangelize by ministering where others cannot.

As Calvary has been a community ministry and outreach focused church for a long time, it only made sense for Pastor Matt and Calvary to join forces with CAUSA as its National Headquarters is located just across the river. Pastor Matt was commissioned as a CAUSA Officer in 2024, with Calvary Fellowship being established as an official Ministry Site of CAUSA. As a ministry site, all of Calvary’s ministries and outreaches are partnered with CAUSA in reaching the community with the Gospel of Christ, teaching the community in practical and spiritual matters, and equipping the local church to receive the community within their walls. With its proximity to CAUSA National Headquarters and close partnership with CAUSA’s primary Center of Ministry, Uncommon Grounds Cafe, Calvary Fellowship stands as one of CAUSA’s prominent and exemplary ministry sites.

Trinity School for Ministry

In connection with CAUSA, Calvary Fellowship and Pastor Matt are partnered with Trinity School of Ministry in Ambridge as a part of their Certificate of Evangelism program. Tentatively launching in 2025, Trinity students will complete their practicum requirements with CAUSA through Calvary Fellowship and Uncommon Grounds Cafe in Aliquippa. Additionally, Calvary serves as a continuous discipleship ground for Trinity students as they often get to practice their ministry skills as they support leading worship, leading service, and occasionally preaching during our Midweek service!

Community Bible Study

In addition to our weekly Bible Study, we host Community Bible Study across the street from the Church at Game Time Sports Bar & Grill every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month. Patterned alongside Uncommon Grounds Cafe’s weekly Community Bible Study, this time of fellowship and study is open for anyone at any stage of their walk to participate in. We love watching God move every time as we dive into His Word together!

Help us serve our community! Your donations support our outreach and community ministry in both Ambridge and Aliquippa.
